Intro
The Erotic Image

Our love of erotic tales is only surpassed by our joy in the Erotic Image. Our need to "capture" our passions can be found on the walls of ancient European and African caves, as well as temples all over Asia and India. We relish our passions and immortalize them in paintings and on film. This page is dedicated to that love.

The Pleasure of the lens:

By the end of the American Civil War, the camera had effectively proved its ability to capture the on-going tapestry of our human lives. While the process was still cumbersome, it out ranked its predecessor; illustration, hands down. And it was also about that time that we began using it to effectively capture our human pleasures as well.

From the late 1800's and well into the 30's much of the erotic/pornographic photography was captured by photographers who used posed sex workers. It was a living that started with the fact that the red light district of New Orleans; Storyville, was so established in the city that each house put out a seasonally updated catalogue of its women along with their specialties.

It didn't take long for these men with their cameras to realize that the "trade" in which they were often paid, might be far more lucrative if captured by their cameras instead.

The Image and the Word:

I have often wondered about the sexual Still Live. And I have also wanted to capture the story they might tell. This desire has lead to the creation of our new Gallery and we hope that you enjoy:
